On 3 December Eric Tomb talked with composer Craig Palmer about some of the music that has influenced his work. These included Raymond Scott, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Leroy Anderson, Bernard Hermann, Danny Elfmann, John Adams, Michael Torke and Esa-Pekka Salonen. We also listened to a number of Criag's own works: Intensity, Solidarity, Raiders of Fortune and Daughters of Sandino.

Welcome to Classical Edge
KVMR-FM has featured classical music in its programming since it went on the air in 1978. Over the years, however, the amount of time devoted to classical music has shrunk considerably. In the past dozen years it has been limited to two hours on Sunday and even these two hours have moved every few years, first from noon to 2 PM, then from 7 to 9 PM and finally from 6 to 8 PM. At the end of 2006, KVMR management decided to put Classical Edge, the current name for this programming, 'on hiatus' while figuring out how to proceed in the future. The Classical Edge team of broadcasters has decided to continue as it can online, offering archives of some recent programs, some programs which will only be available online, and links to classical music sites from Nevada County to Novosibirsk.
We would like your opinions on how we should proceed--and think that the KVMR General Manager and Program Director would as well. Please bombard us with your suggestions.
